Medium deep ruby-colored, with a noticeably vanillin, stony minerality, this austere, medium-bodied wine possesses more ripeness and depth of fruit than the 1993, but it still comes across as undersized and unimpressive. Give it 5-7 years to see if there is any substance behind the abrasive tannin.
